Tom's Vision:
Have you ever noticed that when politicians have no detailed plans, they just make vague promises? "I want to bring more jobs". or, "I want to raise the standard of living". They never offer details as to how they plan on getting that done. They cite their past. "I was a manager of whatever", or "I currently hold an elected position". They fall back on that old formula. Make promises that you have no idea how to keep, and hope you can baffle 'em with complicated job descriptions of what you used to do. I sell electric motors, enclosed gear boxes and other machine parts. I have seen the effect that manufacturing has on a local economy. I believe in Cleveland, and it is because of that belief that I know we can sell the idea of Cleveland to manufacturers all over the World. That's how you get things done. By going out and doing it! So, let the others figure out how to impress each other with titles and political offices held. You and I will just get to work.
My goal is to bring manufacturing back to the Greater Cleveland Area. I believe this is possible if redundant and punitive regulations are eliminated and when government is redirected to partner with manufacturers to help them find cleaner ways to make the products we want and need. We can make Cuyahoga County a viable and vital leader of our economy.
Our current leaders and officials are down on Cleveland. I choose to be optimistic. Where they say we can never be the manufacturing capital that we used to be, I say change the conditions so that statement is proven false. When others say that there is no way to stop the hemorrhage of talent and people from our area, I say improve their prospects so they don't want to live anywhere else.
It is my firm belief that we, you and I, can do great things together. I look beyond party lines and have gathered quite an eclectic group of supporters who also want jobs in the Greater Cleveland area. They support me because they share my vision of revitalizing the economy of Cleveland. Do you believe in Cleveland as I do? Do you envision prosperity and growth? I need you. I need your ideas. Let's chase these dreams and goals together. We, the working people. Those of us who know what it's like to worry about our jobs. We, who, unlike many local governments, have to maintain personal financial responsibility and live within our means. Let's not trust our future to career politicians anymore. Many of our current leaders have never worked in the business sector. They don't know what it is like to run a business, to meet a payroll, or to work with the regulations they have placed on our businesses. Let's get everyone in Greater Cleveland back to "real" work.
