I Believe:
- I believe that a strong national defense is vital to our security. I also believe that if we are going to ask our military personnel to risk their lives for our country, they should have the best weapons at their disposal. It is only just to give our military the best protection and weaponry. This is the only way to ensure our military superiority.
- Lower corporate taxes means that more companies will locate their businesses in the United States. That translates into more of our citizens working which results in the collection of more tax dollars. As a result, each of us would be responsible for a smaller share of taxes paid. We must do everything possible to encourage companies to locate here.
- Government has to be a “break even” entity. It should be required to maintain a balanced budget. If the money is not available, it should not be expended. We should never print money just to make more available. This only leads to inflation.
- It is my belief that the federal government is responsible for the following critical functions: national defense, securing our borders, printing currency, and maintaining our infrastructure of federal highways. Everything else should be handled by the state, county, and local government bodies.
- We all have the equal right and opportunity to be successful. However, there are no guarantees.
- Competition breeds innovation. That is why the United States of America has been the world’s leader in new products, innovation, and inventions. I believe that America can be that World leader again, and what better place than our beloved Cleveland to lead the way?
On Defense:
“the most wasteful department in government...weapons procurement area of the Department of Defense."
-(Website of Dennis Kucinich: kucinich.house.gov)
I can only surmise that Mr. Kucinich is most naïve when it comes to the defense of this nation. I agree that everything MUST be done to maintain the peace. No one hates war more than the warrior. But, if the Taliban and the Husseins of the World are going to insist on killing innocent people, then we must make sure that we can win a war. In my opinion, it is because of those like Mr. Kucinich and our current leadership that we have not already won and gotten out of places like Iraq and Afghanistan.
I could never understand why it seems that those on the other side of the aisle, most of whom have never served, fancy themselves experts on military strategy. I have seen very few who have the inclination, and fortitude for strategic thought. If you want to win a war, quickly, leave it to the warriors.
